Today I wanted to share a photo of "Les Deux Plateaux", or more commonly known as "Colonnes de Buren" after its artist, Daniel Buren. Like many modern artistic expressions in Paris, this art installation was a scandal when it was installed in 1986 within the courtyard of the Palais Royal.
I personally like the columns and what they add to the space. Maybe it's partially due to positive associations made with passing through this courtyard and into the nearby garden of Palais Royal. Or on an even better afternoon, on my way through the gardens to get to Verjus for an incredible sandwich.
Either way, it is another of those unexpected spaces you come across when exploring this beautiful city.
What are your thoughts on this courtyard?
